Below are just some of the basic’s about the AR style rifle.
- "AR" stands for "Armalite Rifle" the company that designed the first one.
- Semi Auto is 1 bullet for every pull of the trigger. The rifle reloads itself after each shot.
- If your rifle is chambered in 5.56 you CAN shoot both 5.56 ammo as well as .223. HOWEVER, a rifle chambered in .223 WILL NOT shoot a 5.56 round.
- 300 blackout rounds should only be fired through a 300blk barrel. Extra care should be taken to NOT mix 5.56 and 300blk rounds in the same magazine.
- AR15's are smaller (overall) than an AR10 rifle. AR10's typically shoot larger calibers such as 308, 6.5 Creedmore, and 338 Federal
- An AR with a barrel length shorter than 16", unless designated as a pistol by the manufacturer, is considered an SBR and is a Federally Regulated National Firearm Act (NFA) Item.
